Why We Chose Guardz to Power Our MDR Service

At Quadra Cyber, we don’t believe in hype. We believe in results. When we built our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, the goal wasn’t to cobble together another over-engineered solution that only works in theory. It was to build something that solves real problems—something we’d actually use ourselves.

Here’s what we were up against:Most security platforms today fall into two camps. They’re either enterprise-grade behemoths that require an army to run, or they’re a patchwork of disconnected tools duct-taped together. The result is dashboard fatigue, alert overload, and zero clarity. That doesn’t work for most mid-market teams—and it doesn’t work for us either.

So we started searching for a better approach.

We evaluated dozens of tools and platforms, with a single guiding principle: Would we use this ourselves to protect our own infrastructure? If the answer was no, we moved on.

That’s what led us to Guardz.

Why Guardz?

Guardz isn’t just another alerting engine. It’s a tightly integrated, full-spectrum security platform that gives us the depth and control we need—without burying our clients in noise or complexity.

Here’s what it brings to the table, and more importantly, why it matters:

  • 24/7 SOC Coverage: Most attacks don’t happen between 9 and 5. We’ve seen small teams miss critical alerts simply because no one was watching overnight. With Guardz, we get a dedicated security operations center that monitors our clients’ environments around the clock and responds to incidents in real time. No gaps, no guesswork.

  • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR): Once an attacker gets inside a network, endpoints are the first line of defense—and the first target. We’ve seen malware sit undetected for weeks on machines with outdated or misconfigured AV. Guardz gives us real EDR capabilities with isolation and rollback, so we can contain threats fast and reduce dwell time.

  • Email Security: It’s still the #1 attack vector. Even companies with decent training get hit with business email compromise or vendor impersonation scams. Guardz helps us cut off phishing attempts at the source, using advanced filtering and impersonation protection. It’s the kind of control we wish more companies had before calling us to investigate.

  • Identity & Dark Web Monitoring: Stolen credentials floating around in breach dumps are a goldmine for attackers. We’ve seen successful breaches start with nothing more than a reused password found on the dark web. Guardz monitors for exposed credentials and alerts us before those weak points are exploited.

  • Security Awareness Training: You can’t rely on tools alone—users have to be part of the defense. But we also know that most training programs are either ignored or forgotten within a week. Guardz makes awareness training a seamless part of the platform, with recurring, relevant modules that don’t feel like a compliance exercise.

  • Phishing Simulations: We’ve run hundreds of phishing simulations for clients, and the patterns are always the same: if you don’t test regularly, users forget. Guardz allows us to launch on-demand, unlimited simulations so we can target specific teams, adjust tactics, and reinforce training based on actual behavior—not theory.

  • External Threat Surface Monitoring: You can’t defend what you don’t know exists. Shadow IT, forgotten domains, exposed ports—these are low-hanging fruit for attackers. Guardz gives us continuous visibility into the external attack surface, so we can find and fix exposure points before someone else does. We’ve caught everything from public test servers to misconfigured firewalls using this tool.

Aligned with Our Philosophy

At Quadra Cyber, we believe security should be practical, efficient, and built to support your business—not slow it down. Guardz aligns perfectly with that philosophy. It’s not flashy for the sake of being flashy. It just works—and it works well.

Yes, they were named 2025 MSP Today Product of the Year, and while that’s great recognition, it wasn’t what sold us. What mattered is that Guardz helped us build the kind of MDR service we’d want someone to run for us.

If you’re looking for real protection, not just more noise, let’s talk. Our MDR service powered by Guardz was built to solve the problems we’ve seen firsthand—and to do it without unnecessary cost or complexity.

Your Security. Our Mission.
